Luxury Costa Rica Vacation on Points
We spent a full week at luxury resorts in Costa Rica for $0. I have been deep in the points and miles game for years now, but this trip was a true testament to how far points and miles can really go.

2025 Points Earned
In 2025 I earned a total of 1,207,000 points. Many people would assume that to earn that many points, I must have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars. But I assure you, I spent no where near that kind of money. I don't have that kind of money. And I am definitely not taking on any consumer debt.

2025 Points Funded Trips
I am absolutely blown away by what I was able to do in 2025 with points earned from credit cards. In total, I spent 27 nights in hotels, all either completely free or very deeply discounted. In this post I summarize each trip, how much they would have cost without points, and how much I spent out of pocket.

Cheap Eye Cream
I’ve tried all kinds of eye creams ranging from $5 - $100. This $6 eye cream from Amazon does a great job for me.
Car Sun Shield
A friend of mine gifted me a sunshield after hearing my daughter complain about how hot our car gets in the summer. Admittedly, this is not something I would have bought myself, but now that I have it I can’t imagine summer without it. I am so impressed with how much cooler it keeps the car!
Public Libraries
My kids and I are at the library at least once a week. They have free events, take home crafts, and summer reading contests that help me keep my kids motivated. And I love the libby app for audio books. Check out your public library!
Popsicles
Popsicles scream summer to me. And I’ve found that some pops, like Jonny Pops & Good Pops, have less than 50 calories yet still feel like a special treat. My kids ask for popsicles more than they do any other treat.
